About Us
Welcome to RutaBikes! A bicycle world in Havana
Our Story
RutaBikes started in September 2012 offering bicycle rental. This venture soon evolved into running the Classic City Tour. We are the first bike rental entrepreneurship that emerged in Havana since the opening of Cuba´s private businesses. The founder, Ebert Trujillo, found his inspiration visiting cities of the world such as Buenos Aires, Delhi, Bern, Munich and Barcelona. Each member of our team brings relevant experience from diverse studies and professional past. We take our job very seriously, and we like to have fun while doing it. Our mission is making your visit to Cuba memorable.
Our tours
Each tour is authentic and unique. They requires weeks of study and cycling the route. We need to “stand in your shoes”, understand your needs and combine this with our own tastes. Designing a tour is challenging for us, and we love to do it! The result is fantastic: Interesting outdoor activities to show Havana city and Cuba in a unique way. Our customer’s reviews are excellent. They point to us as being a “homely team” and “great guides”. There are of course critics, and they are also welcome. Every fail is an opportunity for improvement.
The bicycles
In the early years of RutaBikes, most of our bicycles were second hand. It is still impossible to buy new and good quality bikes in Cuba. As workers in the emerging private sector, we are not allowed to import them as well. It was pure luck to get to know Ecocolor Tours, a Mexican company who helped us to get a whole set of Giant Momentum Bikes. They are the protagonists of our city tours, and everybody knows the red bikes when they pass. Last but not least, another group of bikes of several models integrate the rental set. We chose them carefully, mainly those who are meant to be used for cycling holiday tours. It´s a rule, that every bike is checked by our team of mechanics after every ride. Nevertheless, fails might occur. Flat tires are the most frequents.
